thanks i’m in the market for one.
You have to shop around. You’ll almost always get a better deal online, but it is also important to try before you buy. Check out the in-store models and then compare prices online. Find out what camera fits your needs best a CNet.com. Then, shop around.
TigerDirect.com, eCost.com and NewEgg.com are great starting points. Try Froogle.com too. There are too many different cameras out there to suggest a single, specific site for you.

Well, there’s best deals and "too good to be true" deals.
Generally, the store with the best pricing that’s reliable is
http://www.buydig.com
I also trust:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com
I sort of trust (new only, not used):
http://www.adorama.com
For used gear, I’ve bought a lot of stuff at:
http://www.keh.com
Another place that’s decent, but doesn’t have as much as you’d expect is Ritz Camera http://www.ritzcamera.com
Don’t ignore your own local camera store.

When I’m looking for digital equipment, I look first at WalMart, then Best Buy. If I don’t find what I’m looking for there I go to Amazon.com
for digital cameras I usually only get Cannon or Sony
they’re the only ones I’ve NEVER had any problems with. Cannon merged with Bell and Howell many years ago. Both are/were outstanding cameras and projectors. Thier digital stuff is every bit as good. I have two Cannons now. One is the Powershot S-10. The other is one of the Elph series. It’s out on loan at the moment, so I don’t have any details on the exact model handy. The S-10 is now four years old and way out of warrantee, and it still works as though it were new. And I’ll guarantee you I work it hard. I’m in the process now of building up a portfolio of landscapes I take in the Flathead Valley in NW Montana. I live about 30 miles from the western entrance to Glacier NP and the scenery here is awesome. There is a photo op almost anywhere I point the camera. Once I have enough ‘stock’ I’m going to set up a website and sell the images. People can use them as wallpaper or postcards, posters, or whatever. With any luck, I can get myself out of the poverty hole I’ve been in since I had to quit tattooing due to arthritis.
